An Eenie Bit More About 'An Eenie Little Post'

Hey there Stitchy Peeps! Ok, so I promised that I would tell you about the onesie I posted a pic of recently. Turns out there's really not a whole lot to tell you about it...I covered the basics of it already. So how 'bout a few more pics? Yeah?? Ok. :)

Here's a close-up of the body:
rainbow detail

And here's another close-up, but this time at a funky angle. 'Cause I like funky angles.
rainbow...

And here's one more, the last one...I promise!
hey ya'll

This was so much fun to stitch. Seriously, I don't recall enjoying stitching on t-shirt fabric this much before. I think it was the simplicity of this project that I enjoyed so much. The stitching itself is very basic and simple, so it worked up very quickly. And the little rainbow body! How cute is that?? Making his tummy rainbow-hued wasn't something I had planned to do, it was something that just happened. Does that ever happen when you're stitching? You're going along, working on your piece with something particular in mind, when you find yourself doing something completely different? I am not usually a "make it up as you go along" type of gal (I need to plan ahead!), but I think it turned out well in the end. :)

So, anywho....

I started something new last night! I don't have any pics to show you just yet, so I don't wanna tell you too much about it. I really prefer to show you guys pictures when I tell you about my projects. I think it's way better that way, don't you? ;) BUT--I will tell you this: It's vintage Vogart. Yummy!!! So for those of you who enjoy the vintage stuff, be sure to stay tuned, for I will be blogging about it soon. And I will have pictures. Yes, lots of tasty pictures. :-D

Yea! So, that's about it for now. It's been a hectic week, so I am pretty tired. I'd really like to stitch, though...Wish me luck, I think I'll try to stitch a bit before I go to bed...if my tired eyes will allow it!!!

Until next time...

Happy Stitching!

An Eenie Little Post...

Hey there stitchy peeps!

I started a little something Friday morning...and finished it Saturday afternoon...
cuteness galore!

I don't have the energy right now to blog about it properly, but I couldn't wait to show you a pic! Isn't it just the cutest??? It's a onesie for my one-year-old, from another one of AnnieOakleaves' wonderful Eenies patterns.

Ok, more on this soon, I promise! Until then...

Short & Sweet & Nearly Complete

Hey there stitchy peeps! I am gonna keep this post short, but sweet. :) The t-shirt I've been working on is done! Well, almost. I still have a couple things left to do before I can officially declare that it's complete. I need to finish removing the stabilizer, for one. Ugh, that is not fun! Tedious. Ick. I also need to fix a few things that got mussed when I was removing the stabilizer. But other than that...yeah, all done.

Here, lemme know what ya' think:
eenies tee

(Ok, so I still have to iron it. Add that to the list of things to do.)

Hey, remember that smudge I talked about? It is hardly even noticeable now! I don't know why, but you really have to be looking for it to see it. COOLNESS. I am so happy about that! But I gotta say, if that smudge hadn't somehow miraculously faded, I got some pretty good ideas on how to cover it from fellow Flickr-ites sewitsforyou and Cornflowercreations. I love the way crafters look out for each other! There's always someone to give you advice and suggestions when you're in need. And speaking of advice, thank you to Brook for the info on the stabilizers.

Yeah, all you bloggy crafty folks rock my socks, what can I say. :)

Ok, that's it from me for now. I hope to have a better pic of the totally completed shirt very soon. I assume you will be sitting on pins and needles waiting for that pic. ;) Tee hee. I also hope to start something totally cool soon....and if that works out as planned, it will be pretty rad. But in the meantime...

Happy Stitching!

PS Be sure to stop by and visit AnnieOakleaves' blog for info on the pattern I used for this cute little t-shirt. :)

Wee Bit O' Progress

Hey there stitchy peeps! I made some nice progress on the shirt I told you about yesterday, and I am here to show you what I've done. You're excited, right??

So, I think I will start where I left off yesterday: showing you the process of how I am doing everything. If this is boring to you, I apologize. I personally find this kind of stuff entertaining...does that make me weird? Nah... :-D

Ok, so I traced my pattern, and had to decide exactly where on the T-shirt I wanted to put it, and then I had to iron it on. Piece of cake. I played around with placement for a while, came up with something I liked, then dragged out the ol' ironing board and went to work. That's when I noticed IT. Sigh. A smudge. A teensy, tiny, itty-bitty, barely detectable little smudge. My beloved Sulky pen had smudged on the tracing paper while I was tracing the pattern.

Here, look, it really is hard to see it:
smudge

But once the pattern was ironed on the fabric...well, that's a different story.
well, that sucks

Grrrr, grumble. I was none to pleased when I saw this!! Oh well, whatcha gonna do? :P

Anywho...

So, as I've mentioned before, stitching on T-shirts is NOT my favorite thing to do. That's because I never use stabilizer. That is, until now. But I don't think I have the stuff I am supposed to be using. The package says its for professionals (*snort* I am soooooo not a pro!) and machine embroidery. Whoopsies. I don't know why I didn't notice that when I bought the stuff. Perhaps I should, you know, research it a bit and find out what's out there. I heard the stuff from Sublime Stitching works well. Has anyone used it? What do you think of it?

So, here it is, the stuff I have:
stiffy. hehehe.

(Look at the name of it! Tee hee, snicker.)

I cut a big piece of it, big enough for the Q-snaps to hold it in place:
big piece o' stiffy

I suppose I could've used a smaller piece, perhaps slightly larger than the pattern, and pinned it in place. But hey, that ain't my style.

So....even though this Stiffy stuff isn't what I should be using for stabilizer (or is it? I really don't know), it's working ok so far. I just hope it tears away with ease and doesn't pull out any of the stitches. Hmmm. Better not, or I just may cry.

Here's the little bit of stitching I got done last night:
progess

I looooove the satin stitched collar. It's a little wonky, but it's not easy to tell that unless you're looking at it pretty closely. Satin stitch is one of the things that I have a hard time with, unless I am using it in a counted thread project, like this cross stitch WIP I've been working on for a few years (gasp!) now:
e is for ewe

The little sheep (ewes) are Satin stitched with Wisper thread. Have you ever tried Wisper? It's fun, but can be a little trying at times. It's great for sheep and Santa's beard.

Ok, now I am digressing. I'll take that as a sign that my brain is tired of focusing and needs a little break. Time to veg out in front of the TV for a while...then go to the grocery store...ugh...then maybe after dinner and the kids are in bed I can finish this shirt and be back to tomorrow to show you pics. But don't hold me to that, ok? ;o)

Happy Stitching!

T-shirt Time

Hey there stitchy peeps!

I am so pleased to tell you that I finished Potty Swap. Hooray! I have yet to do the finishing touches and drop it in the mail, but the actual stitching is done and that feels good. Yea me! And since that's done, I am moving on to Top Secret Project #2.

Look at this:
my sulky pen makes me happy

How flippin' cute is this?? Ok, I know it's kinda hard to tell what you're looking at in this tiny little pic, but that is an adorable pattern from Annie Oakleaves. I used my trusty ol' Sulky pen to trace the pattern, and now all I have to do is iron it on the shirt and get stitchin'. :)

Look closely, and you'll see that I actually traced the little guy twice. The first time I did it, he looked evil and sinister...not at all like the original. I think I made his mouth & eyebrows too big. So I re-traced him (sans brows) and now he looks happy...like he's supposed to...

Here's a pic of the floss toss:
another floss toss

I haven't actually narrowed down which colors I will use. I will probably only be using about half of what's shown here. But hey, isn't that the point of a floss toss? Tee hee. Plus, I don't think I am going to stitch all three characters on the shirt, for it's a little shirt and there's not a lot of room for stitching.

Oh, I am so excited to be stitching this shirt!! It is for a very special little girl who deserves a very special shirt. Plus, I get to stitch something PINK! Having two little boys means never getting to make cute little pink things, so this is especially exciting for me. :) Tee hee!!

And hey, while I'm thinking about it, lemme show this pic:
skeins of goodness

A few years ago, I bought a floss box at an estate sale and found these cool old skeins mixed in with the newer ones. I don't know how old these skeins actually are, they may not really be that old. And yeah, all but the top one are half used, but they look cool, right?

And hey, the yellow one's boilfast:
boilfast

And it was only 12 cents. 12 cents!!!! (Well, I paid more than 12 cents, but I got a box full o' goodies for just a couple bucks, so it evens out.)

All right, enough yammerin' from me. I've got stitching to do! (And laundry...and dishes...but no one wants to hear about that, blech.)

I hope to post some pictures of a completed T-shirt within the next few days. Wish me luck! And oh, hey...Happy Stitching!

Spoiler! EBS, Avert Thine Eyes!!

Hello Stitchy Peeps!

Ack, it's been a long time since my last post! Sorry 'bout that. But I haven't had anything stitchy-related to blog about. And unfortunately, I still don't have much. Eh. :P

I have been working hard to finish the swap piece I am making for Amy of Early Bird Special . It is coming along quite nicely. I am dying to show you a progress pic, but I don't wanna ruin anything for Amy, so I will show you just a teensy little sneak peek.

Really, it's very teensy, don't get your hopes up! Tee hee.
sneak-y peek-y

Ok, that's all ya get! No more!!!!

And hey, speaking of Amy, she let me know that there was a cool little blurb about me on CraftStylish, a cool crafty webzine. (Um, is that the correct word? Webzine? Like, Web Magazine? Yes, no, maybe?? Anywho...) I was BEYOND excited to see this little piece about my most recent finish, Maude, aka French Knot 'Fro. And hey, while you're there, check out this piece about Amy's fabulous french knot poodle.

Pretty cool, right? :-D

That's about all the stitchy-related stuff I have for you tonight, folks. Oh, wait, there is one last thing. Guess what I got in the mail today?

Check this out! Try not to be jealous, ok? ;)
awesomeness

Yes, my friends, you are looking at my order from Sublime Stitching. Oh, I am soooo excited!!! I have plans for these delicious patterns, oh-so-many plans. I really should wrap up this post so I finish up my swap project, so I can start (and finish) Top Secret Project #2, so I can then start (and finish) my baby's b-day T-shirt (since my first attempt was sadly in vain), so then I can make something wonderful with these new patterns! Ack!!

(Yeah, I don't like to have too may WIPS going on at one time, and I have commitments and deadlines and stuff that I need to take care of before I start anything for myself. And you can bet yer britches, these SS patterns will be used to make something for ME.)

I hope to be back soon with some cool new pics of the stuff I plan to start soon. Until then..

Happy Stitching!
