Tattoo Kewpie and Sexy Snow White

Wow! It's already December. November flew by faster than any month has flown by for me before. I still can't quite wrap my head around the fact that the year is nearly over.  :-O

Sorry about the unexpected blogging hiatus. I have plenty to share with you, but for some reason I just couldn't bring myself to sit at the computer and write posts. Does anyone else go through that?

So, anyway, here in its entirety is what I showed you a sneak peek of last time.

How cute is this Kewpie?!? And look at how hardcore he is with all those tats! I loved working on this little guy. Those tattoos are quite small, but big on detail, so I used just one strand of thread for them. Anyone who has stitched with one strand knows it can be a bit of a challenge, oddly enough! Unless, of course, it's only me who has a hard time with it.... ;)

I also stitched this little hottie for Greenbeanbaby:

Woooooo hoooooo, look at her! *wolf whistles*

So, there you have it, a bit of what I've been working on lately. But it really is just a bit of it. I will be back soon (I promise! Soon!!) with updates on the Lizzie*Kate Christmas project I stitched for my LNS, as well as what I did for Crafty Sheep's November Color Challenge...and maybe even a couple more things. :) Stay tuned!

Sneak Peek Revealed

Here is the completed piece I teased you with last time I posted.

Isn't she gorgeous? I just love her! You can make her, too. In fact, I hope you do; I'd love to see another stitcher's interpretation of her!

Halloween Cuties

From the Trick or Treat Halloween Kids pattern set by Greenbeanbaby

I stitched these little cuties recently, and I just love them! For the witchy gal, I played around with one of DMC's fluorescent floss colors, which was super fun (and bright!). For the candy corn boy, I had fun using Gentle Art Sampler Threads for his hair. Fun, fun, fun! (How many times can I say "fun" in one post? ;))

Fall Friends--New Patterns by Greenbeanbaby

Thank so much for the feedback on my last post about tinted stitchery! It's always interesting to hear what other stitchers think about stuff. By the way, if you are interested in tinting some of your own work but you're unsure how to go about it, be sure to check out Wild Olive's blog. Her tips section has a lot of great info about tinting (as well as other stitchy stuff).

So, after seeing what I had to show you last time, are you ready for more cuteness from Greenbeanbaby

Yes?

I thought so!

Soooooo cute, right?! I just love these little sweeties. They're perfect for fall!

Tinted Stitchery

Hello and Happy Autumn! (Eeeeeeeeee! I am so glad it's finally fall!)

I've been thinking about tinted stitchery lately. I've done a few pieces that I've tinted with either crayons (before the stitching) or colored pencils (after the stitching).

Awww, this sweet little baby boy is now five years old! It's hard for me to believe!!

That's just a small sampling of some of the things I've color tinted over the years.
I really like the look of the tinted pieces. And as much as I enjoy experimenting with different types of fill stitches, sometimes I simply don't have the patience for it. When I need a quick color fix tinting does the trick. I know it's not for everyone, though. How about you? Do you like to tint your stitchery?

Adorable pattern by Greenbeanbaby...coming soon to her shop!

Please, do share your thoughts about untinted vs. tinted stitchery. I am curious!

Greenbeanbaby Embroidery Patterns!!!

If you followed the links in my last post, you probably already figured out that the incredibly talented Ellia of greenbeanbaby is turning her adorable designs into embroidery patterns.

I have been a longtime fan of Ellia's work. I have several pieces of her lovely artwork in my home, as well as Christmas ornaments, fridge magnets, and more! You also may recall this post from a few years ago, where I revealed a piece I'd stitched based on a free cut-paper pattern Ellia offered. That piece confirmed what I had suspected: Ellia's work would make great embroidery patterns.

So, when Ellia asked me to sample some patterns for her to see if they'd work for embroidery, I jumped at the chance! And now her fabulous patterns are on sale in her Etsy shop. Check them out, tell your friends, and visit often, for there are more patterns in the works!
