All the WIPS Remain Unstitched

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

So, ok...I haven't exactly done any stitching lately. My life is tuckering me out, people! So all those WIPS I mentioned recently are still sitting in a pile, untouched and unstitched.

But wait!

Despite having been a LAZY BUM in the stitching department, I still have something to share with you. I came across a picture of something that I'd forgotten about. I didn't think much of it when I stitched it last summer (I hurried through it, which resulted in messy stitching), but now I think it's kinda cute.

A Chewie Collabo

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

So, as you may already know, I have done a lot of stitching for Annie Oakleaves. I embroider her patterns and take pictures of the finished product, some of which are used in her Etsy. Some of the things I embroider are sent to her in the mail, for her to use as she wishes.

Here is an example of something I embroidered and sent to her to finish. The embroidery was done by me; the sewing, stuffing, and photography by her.



I squealed when I saw the pictures on her Flickr. I had forgotten that I had stitched these. They're larger than anything else of hers I'd done; I think each softie is about 9 to 10 inches high. I used a super-huge flour sack towel to embroider all four parts of the dolls. The stitching was surprisingly quick to do! I didn't think something of that size would be fast to stitch, but it was. I am especially proud of the satin stitched collars and the hair. :)

No Longer a WIP

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

Here it is, my WIP from the other day:

So, I am kinda annoyed about the way the color turned out in the pictures. The blue is really a bright turquoise, though it doesn't look like it. I took about a hundred (no joke) different shots of this in different light, using various camera settings, but nothing I did made a difference. Every pic turned out the same: the larger flower looked royal blue. I even tried tweaking things in Picasa, but it didn't help. I guess that's a sign that I should get Photoshop, lol. Oh well. That last picture is the truest to the actual color.

Yawn. I am a Sleepy Sleeperson right now. But there's still work to be done before I go to bed tonight. I purchased some really cute Christmas patterns today that I can't wait to get started on. You are gonna flip when you see these! I will be back soon with some yummy pics. Until then...

My Latest WIP

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

Thank you for the well-wishes, my lovely bloggy friends! I am happy to report that I am feeling much better. :) Tired, but not ill. I haven't done as much stitching as I usually do as a result of my aforementioned tiredness, but here is a little sneak peek of my latest project:

I worked on this the other night while watching Pretty in Pink. Do you love that movie, or what? Does anyone else disagree with her decision in the end? Ugh. I can't talk about it. It makes me too upset. ;)

Anywho...

If my sleepiness doesn't take over, I will be working on (and hopefully finishing) this project tonight. Maybe I will watch The Parent Trap. And no, not the new Lindsay Lohan version. I am talkin' about the old school, totally awesome Hayley Mills version. (The good version!)

So, stay tuned for pictures of a soon-to-be-finished piece of embroidery. Hopefully I can deliver that to you very soon. Until then...

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

I have been a little under the weather lately. Don't know if it's a cold or my sinuses, but I feel pretty icky. That, coupled with 6-day work weeks, means very little time for stitching. Boo. :P

Outside the Box

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

This is what I did recently. You like?

When it comes to stitching, I seldom think 'outside the box'. I tend to stick with traditional colors. Of course, there are exceptions and every so often I get super creative and do something like this rainbow buggy. Not exactly what you'd find in nature, but not that off-the-wall. ;) So I found myself sort of surprised when the floss toss I did for this Winter Bird yielded these results: PINK and BLUE. Pink and blue? A pink bird that isn't a flamingo?

(I am loving it.)

I think I may have been inspired by the Christmas decorating magazines that line the shelves of my local supermarket. While there are many glossy, beautiful photos of homes decked out in traditional schemes of red and green, there are also many non-traditional color combinations that I find myself drawn to. I've always loved using all-blue lights on the tree or in a nativity scene...and I have a fuzzy yet persistent childhood memory of my great-grandmother's home at Christmas, decked out in all-blue lights and decorations.

It's hard to tell, especially in the second picture, but the little guy is tinted pink. I shouldn't really say tinted, however; he is simply filled in with a colored pencil. It's very subtle, but I thought he needed a little something, and filling him in with stitches just wasn't an option. I didn't want to compete against the wing & tail, or the details in the hat & scarf. So once again, it was colored pencils to the rescue. :)

Winter Bird has put me in the mood to do some Christmas stitching...I will have to peruse my collection of patterns for Christmas-y and wintry things. Hopefully I will be back soon with some seasonal stitching to share with you. Until then...

Cute Little Deer

So, Annie Oakleaves recently released some new patterns. I fell in love with these deer instantly and knew I just had to stitch 'em ASAP:

I am putting the finishing touches on a sweet little birdie from this set of patterns, and I will be showing it to you soon...and I have lots of other cute things prepared for stitching. Be on the lookout in the upcoming weeks for more cuteness. :)

Happy October!

Now that it's October, the kiddos can officially wear the brand-spankin'-new Halloween shirts I embroidered for them:

I am so excited that it's Autumn! And that the weather finally feels like Fall. Finally. I decorated the house for Halloween today while my older son was at preschool, and the look on his face when he got home and saw the house was priceless. I remember how exciting it was when I was a little girl to return home from school to find that my mother had put Halloween decorations up in the windows. Does anyone remember those old-school paper cutouts? Do they even make those anymore?? Everything today is plastic. Which holds up better, but it's just not the same. Oh, 1980's, how I miss you!! :)

Anywho...

I hope this first day of my favorite month is treating you well! I will back soon with lots of cool stuff to share...I have been working hard on a swap with my friend Amanda (who doesn't write a blog, but totally should so she can show off her mad stitching skills, don'tcha agree??), and I can't wait to show you pics! Boo! (And a Sneak Peek)

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

Look what I did yesterday:







Pretty cute, eh? (Can you believe I did that without stabilizer? Ick, I am crazy sometimes.) This is gonna look mighty fine on my 15-month-old son.

This one stitched up fast, people--it only took an hour. Yay!! If you want to make some of this cuteness for yourself, you can get the pattern here.

Embroiderin' Up Some Plaid

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

Here's what I've been up to recently:











You'd think after stitching so many of Annie Oakleaves' Eeenies, I would be tired of them. But I am not, because they are so flippin' cute and they stitch up so quickly. I love that I can add my own personal touches to these patterns. You'd almost think I was artistically inclined, lol.

Did you see the pic of the Eenie wearing the plaid dress? I think it's kinda cool. I made plaid, yo! Tee hee. Here's a closer look:



I've got more cool stuff in the works, my lovelies. More cuteness and a wee little bit o' total radness. Or maybe I should call it awesomeness. I haven't quite decided, lol. Anywho, it's very very cool, and it involves a swap I am doing with my girl Amanda. I met Amanda on Flickr, and man oh man, can that girl stitch! You MUST check out her stitchy stuff, people. Can you believe she's only been stitching for 9 months? Anywho, she and I are doing a swap and I am super excited about it. I am dying to show you guys some sneak peek pics, but I am not sure if I should...

A Whole Lot of BLAH BLAH BLAH...And Some Pics

So, there's a lot to tell you! First, let me say how excited I was to have the talented Average Jane Crafter nominate my humble little blog to be included on Pimp Stitch's blogroll! Talk about flattering! And way awesome. Yay me!! :)

Also, I was extremely thrilled to find one of my little stitchy pieces featured on Feeling Stitchy. You can see that post here. And when I checked out today's post, I saw that one of my stitchy pieces was included in a mosaic. Wooooo hoooooo! I love the internet...

All right, last time I told you about being tagged by Brook. Here's the deal:

So, I am going to be a total spoil-sport and break the rules. I am not tagging anyone. It turns out that it's a whooooooole lot of work to do that! And I am feeling a bit lazy today. But I think Brook is a total hoot and I adore her blog, and find it so flattering that she tagged me...so....I will tell you my unspectacular traits, and leave it up to you whether or not you want to play along. Tee hee. (Oh, but CCW, I think you should do this. So I am unofficially tagging you, darlin'!)

Ok, here goes:

1. The closet doors in my bedroom must be completely shut in order for me to sleep well. Don't ask me why 'cause I can't tell ya. It just has to be like that.

2. My pillows must be facing inward in order for me to sleep, but when I make the bed, they must be facing outward.

3. I can't stand it when the slats on the mini blinds are askew. Oh my gosh, I hate it. Hubby finds this simultaneously amusing and annoying.

4. I talk to inanimate objects--a lot. But don't worry, they don't talk back to me.

5. I always save the best bite for last when I am eating. I will eat around the parts that I don't consider to be the best until all that's left is the best...for example, the center of a piece of French toast.

6. I curse like a sailor when I play video games. Oh, and when I drive. Oh, and when I am angry. Hmmmm....
Ok, so there ya go! Six quirks about yours truly. Sorry that I am not tagging people. But by the looks of it, so many of the people I would tag have either already done this or just plain don't want to.

Sparkly-ness

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

We've had some very Fall-like weather here the last couple days...ahhhh, bliss...and it's the perfect backdrop for the stitching I've been doing:



I've been stitching more cuteness from Annie Oakleaves' adorable patterns. These ones are from her Cuties collection. Fitting name, yes? :)




Check out those shoes! They sparkle!! Of course, the pic doesn't do the shoes justice; you really need to see them up close and personal to appreciate the sparkly-ness (yes, I just made up a word!) of them. I am loving what DMC has to offer lately...The shoes are stitched with Jewel Effects, part of the Light Effects collection. Fun stuff! Not quite as easy to work with as cotton floss since it's a metallic floss, but not hard.

I am currently working on another Cutie, but unfortunately I don't have a WIP picture for you. Sorry! It's super cute though, I promise you'll like it. I am halfway done with it, so you can expect to see a picture of a completed project soon! Until then...

Cuteness Galore!

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps! Whew, have I ever been a busy little stitcher!! I have been doing some stitching for Annie Oakleaves--her Eenies are to die for!--and it's been keeping me super busy...in a good way! They're cute as can be and a blast to stitch. Here, look:

On The Catwalk

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

First of all, thanks for the mermaid love! It thrills me to hear what you guys think about the stuff I make. So much work goes into these things...time and effort and whatnot....it's relaxing and wonderful but still work, ya' know what I mean? So it's great to get feedback from you guys and to know that you think it's as wonderful as I do. :)

So, ok, last time I mentioned that I had a couple pics of some adorable little children modeling the shirts I made...so, here ya' go! Enjoy.

An Eenie Little Post...
