A Delicious WIP

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

I decided to take a break from the things I need to do (making gifts and ornies) and do something that's just for me.

Yes, yes, I know I should be working on one of the gazillion gifts I need to make. But if I don't get at this soon, it will too late to enjoy it during the Christmas season. And I love this pattern so very much that I simply must be able to enjoy it during this Christmas season. ♥-♥-♥

I hope to be back soon with either updated WIP pics or (fingers crossed) pics of a completed project. :) :) Until then...

A Chewie Collabo

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

So, as you may already know, I have done a lot of stitching for Annie Oakleaves. I embroider her patterns and take pictures of the finished product, some of which are used in her Etsy. Some of the things I embroider are sent to her in the mail, for her to use as she wishes.

Here is an example of something I embroidered and sent to her to finish. The embroidery was done by me; the sewing, stuffing, and photography by her.

I squealed when I saw the pictures on her Flickr. I had forgotten that I had stitched these. They're larger than anything else of hers I'd done; I think each softie is about 9 to 10 inches high. I used a super-huge flour sack towel to embroider all four parts of the dolls. The stitching was surprisingly quick to do! I didn't think something of that size would be fast to stitch, but it was. I am especially proud of the satin stitched collars and the hair. :)

Well, that's all for tonight, my lovely bloggy friends. I will be back soon with pics of completed ornies. (Hopefully! LOL.) Until then...

Four Fun Onesies

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

So.....I did not get all the ornaments stitched yet. Eeeps! But I have a good excuse. I was busy making these:

onesies

Cute, right?? A dear friend is having a baby soon, and when I saw that onesies were on her gift registry, I got busy stitching.

The bunny and the birdies are my favorites:

my other fave

Three of the four patterns are from Sublime Stitching...Emily Martin of Inside A Black Apple designed these cuties, and I thought they were perfect for the onesies. The piggy is from a small sheet of transfers that I purchased at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft.

So, I beg of you, please do not be mad at me for not having the ornies done. I know I promised you that I would have pictures of completed ornaments, and I will have some soon, I swear.

How about until I have pics of all three, I just show you the one I have finished. Miss Paula, this is for you, darling:

I'm afraid this is nothing to brag about, my friends. My sewing skills are not so hot. Oh well, I still like it.

Here's the front:

And the back:

I learned something while I was putting this together: Hand sewing is far from relaxing when you're tired, stressed, and your youngest refuses to sleep even though it's far past his bedtime. Hmmph! I need to muster up some energy before I sit down and sew the other two ornaments.

I also need to muster up some energy to work on some Christmas gifts for my brother and his wife. Yikes, people! I have a lot to do!! I better wrap up this post and get busy! I will back soon with more stitchy goodness. Until then...

Brobee Shirt & Some Ornament Progress

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

I finished the Brobee shirt last night! YAY ME!!

brobee shirt

This was fun to make, though I somehow managed to breeze through nearly two skeins of black floss in the process...which is kinda odd since the only actual stitching is the outlining of the monster, along with the satin stitched uni brow and eyeballs. :) All the color was done by crayon tinting.

The pattern is a simply a coloring page from the Nick Jr. website, which I traced with my handy-dandy Sulky pen and ironed onto the shirt. What's totally awesome is the plain white shirt was half the price of what a pre-made Brobee shirt would've cost me at the store. That's the only real money that was spent on this project, since the pattern was free, and I already had the crayons and floss. Double yay!

Ok, moving on...

I got the fabric and ribbon for my ornaments-to-be. I am quite pleased with my selections. :)

ornaments-to-be

I decided to go with non-Christmas fabric for the backing for a couple reasons. One, it was hard to me to find Christmas-themed material in turquoise. Though I am sure it's out there, I was kinda in a hurry and didn't have a lot of time to search. Two, the little quarters at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft were perfect for what I am doing, and I didn't have to wait in line at the cutting table. (I looooove not waiting in line at the cutting table.)

I am such a dummy-head sometimes, people! I forgot to bring the embroidered pieces with me to the store! It makes matching a little more challenging when you don't have your stuff with ya!

I think I did an ok job.

Ok, that's it for me! I've got to get busy with these ornaments. I would really like to knock 'em out this weekend, but I don't know if that'll happen. We'll see. :) I will be back soon with pics of the finished ornaments. Until then...

Glimpses of Christmas, Part 3

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

Lookee here!

frowns

(Pattern by Wild Olive.)

I just love the little frown-y faces, don't you?

This is the third little ornament-to-be that I recently embroidered. Soon I will be hand sewing this and two others (this one and this one) into ornaments for our Christmas tree. I have to go through my stash of fabric to see if I have anything appropriate to back these with, or if I have to (get to!) go to the fabric store and purchase something new. As much I like going to the fabric store, I really hope I have something in my collection so I can start sewing these ASAP. Though I long for a sewing machine, I really do enjoy hand sewing. It's soothing, much like embroidery and cross stitch.

Well, that's all for now, folks! I have just a little bit of work left on the WIP shirt for my son, so be on the lookout for pics of a completed tee. Until then...

Keepin' Things Clean

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

Some time ago, I told you about a swap I did with my friend Amanda. Here (finally!) are the pics of what I stitched for her:

pillow

I just love these little cupcakes:

c'est bon

When I saw this adorable pattern by Pimp Stitch, I knew it was perfect for Amanda. I made it into a pillow (hand sewed it, people! I don't have a machine--yet.) and I think it turned out pretty cute. It didn't seem like enough, though. So I stitched this, too:

hot!

This was matted and framed, and I really like the way it turned out. Since I am keepin' it clean for the kiddos I edited this pic, but if you wanna see the un-blackboxed version, along with a couple other pics, click here.

That's all for now, but I will have more to share with you soon. I finished the embroidery on another Christmas ornament, but I haven't had the time to get a good picture yet. (Well, I had time yesterday--and even had a brief moment when the sun was out--but the camera batteries needed charging. Now it's pouring down rain and since I like to take my pics in natural light...well, no pics have been snapped today.) I've also been working on a cute shirt for my youngest son, and I am excited to share that with you. It's still a WIP, but I am sure I will finish it soon. And then I will lots of pics to share with you! Until then...

Happy Stitching!
