Happy Apple is Done!

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

So hey, I finished the Happy Apple:

happy apple mosaic

(Click on the pic to get to my Flickr, where you can view the photos individually if you'd like.)

I took my friend Amy's advice and added a white french knot to each eye. They are twinkly and cute as can be. Thanks, Amy! :)

I decided against giving her a nose. After I re-stitched her mouth, I was pleased with her face just as it was. Also, I left the bee's wings alone. I couldn't bear the thought of changing them. Ok, I couldn't bear the thought of frogging them.

I guess that's it for now. Oh, except one thing: Have I told you how much you rock, my bloggy friends? 'Cause you do! I am so grateful for your kind comments and stitchy advice. I am still kinda surprised that there are people out there that actually read my humble little blog. Thank you! *kiss-kiss*

Well, that's it for me. I will back soon with more stitchy goodness. Until then...

Happy Apple WIP

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

Ok, here's another one from the WIP pile:

There are some things you should know:

I am going to frog the mouth and stitch it in a darker shade of pink. I think. I've already frogged it once, and I don't want to do it again, but since I am unhappy with the way the mouth looks, I don't have a choice. I also don't know if I am crazy about the wings. I free-handed the detail with white rayon floss (slippery stuff, folks! But shiny & fun and not too hard to work with in small doses.), and I think the wings now bear a great resemblance to leaves. Tee hee. But I am 99.9% sure I won't be changing the wings. They are kinda cool.

I also think I am going to add a nose to her face. I think she needs one. There's a lot of empty space on that face! The dimensions of the piece are approximately 6 inches wide by 9 inches tall, with her face being about 4.5 inches wide. Most of the examples I've seen of this piece (or any vintage pattern, come to think of it) appear to be smaller...If anyone has done a vintage pattern, what were your measurements? I'm curious. Elizabeth, how big/small is your Happy Apple? Maybe I should've made her smaller so her face wouldn't look so empty.

Ok, that's if for me, my darlings. I hope you are having a good week! And also, I hope you are getting lots of stitching done. :) I plan to work on this Happy Apple WIP tonight, so hopefully I will back tomorrow (or Wednesday...or Thursday...) with pics to share with you. Until then...

Two Finishes

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

Well, I did it: I picked up some WIPS and managed to finish two of them. YAY ME!! Tee hee.

First up, Wubbzy, which technically wasn't a new WIP, but a WIP all the same:

wubbzy's done

And now....something of which I am quite proud to have finished, simply because I did not know what to do with the eyes:

I used metallic floss for the eyes. I hate working with that stuff, even in small amounts. BUT--I think it's worth the pain. ;) Look at how sparkly her eyes are!! I love them.

Ok, that's all for now, folks. I have plans to work on another WIP tonight, if all goes well. (And by "if all goes well" I mean if my kiddos go to bed at a decent hour and don't leave me too tired to think, let alone stitch. Ha!) So hopefully I will be back in a day or two (or three, let's be realistic, lol) with some more pics to share with you. Until then...

All the WIPS Remain Unstitched

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

So, ok...I haven't exactly done any stitching lately. My life is tuckering me out, people! So all those WIPS I mentioned recently are still sitting in a pile, untouched and unstitched.

But wait!

Despite having been a LAZY BUM in the stitching department, I still have something to share with you. I came across a picture of something that I'd forgotten about. I didn't think much of it when I stitched it last summer (I hurried through it, which resulted in messy stitching), but now I think it's kinda cute.

That's all for now, my lovelies. I promise, I will get busy this week and be back soon with more pics of stitchy goodness. Until then...

Goin' Crazy with the WIPS

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

So hey, I got a new cover for my ironing board:

new cover

After 12+ years of service, the pad attached to the old cover just wasn't cuttin' it anymore. (Neither was the apple print [seen here], but that's beside the point.) So I got a new one. Isn't the material pretty?

me likey

The pretty new cover has such a nice pad under it. The old one was so worn that I needed to use a large towel, folded several times, to provide adequate padding for wrinkle removal. (One night, I couldn't figure out why I just could not get the wrinkles out of a piece of muslin, even with steam, when my husband politely pointed out to me that the pad was shot and that replacing it would solve my problem. Um, yeah, can you say blond moment? lol)

Having this new cover has inspired me, people. This is sad (read: embarrassing) to admit, but I was so thrilled about not having to fold up that stupid towel that I went overboard with pattern-transferring and ended up with nine WIP projects. Yup, nine pieces of fabric with freshly transferred patterns, just waiting for needle & thread. I was thumbing through my patterns like a mad woman yesterday, looking for things to trace with my Sulky pen.

I also had several ready-to-iron patterns in my collection (thank you, Sublime Stitching!). I worked on this little beauty last night after the kiddos went to bed:

ss wip

I've been using variegated floss, and I am only semi-pleased with the results. I really am not too crazy about the satin stitching, and I think it's because of the variegation of colors.

Eh, oh well. ;)

Here's a little glimpse of the fabby that will be used to transform this lovely little gal into a pillow/ornie someday:

ss wip w/fabby

Isn't she mysterious, partially hidden behind the fabby? :)

Ok, that's it for now, peeps. I have a TON of things in the works now! There will be much to share in the upcoming weeks. So stayed tuned! I will be back soon with pics to share with you. Until then...

Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! WIP

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

So, there hasn't been a whole lot of stitchin' going on around here lately...boo...but I have managed to get a little bit of work done on something I am making for my youngest son.

wow wow wubbzy wip

Anyone familiar with Nick Jr should recognize this. My kiddos looooove "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!" and the free coloring pages on Nick Jr's website make really awesome embroidery patterns. This is going to be a pillow or, if I am really ambitious, a small lap quilt for my baby boy. :)

I am very happy with the eyes:

the eyes have it

The kickity-kick ball is pretty cute, too:

kickety-kick ball

Does anyone else feel like it's cheating to do so much crayon tinting on a piece? The only stitching here is outlining...with some satin stitching on the nose and eyes.

Ah yes, those eyes...

jazz hands

Anywho....

Well, that's gonna do it for me, my wonderful bloggy friends. I recently acquired several really awesome/adorable/oh-my-gosh-I-cannot-wait-to-stitch-these-because-they-are-the-cutest-things-on-the-planet patterns, so be on the lookout for some mega-cuteness in the near future. Until then...
