On The Fence

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps! Long time, no post! Sorry about that. And unfortunately, this ain't gonna be much of a post. I have tons to tell you, but I haven't the time...or the energy right now. I have been messing with this little ol' blog of mine tonight...notice the changes? I don't know how I feel about this just yet...change is hard for me...lol.

So yeah, in my quest to be able to post larger pictures here, I got a new template. BUT--I cannot get my old header to look like it used to. Nope. So my floss boxes picture is GONE. Which I guess you might have noticed. ;) I miss it.

But bigger pictures are more important to me than a cool header. I guess.

These pics are old...sorry. But I needed something to test this new template out with. I cross-stitched this Lizzie*Kate piece a few years ago. Surprisingly, I still like it. (Sadly, many of the things I stitched in the past have ended up in the closet or under the bed.)

So, I am afraid that's it for me right now. Next time, I will share with you 6 peculiar things about me...I was tagged by one of my faves, Brook a little while ago, and I've been meaning to do it. So hey, there's something to look forward to. 'Cause I know you're looking forward to learning all about my little quirks. ;-D Tee hee.

All righty then! Catch ya later, Stitchy Peeps! Until then...

Thinking of Autumn

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps! Here's that Cutie WIP I told you about yesterday...except it's no longer a WIP! It's all done, baby!

cuties

Pretty cute, huh?

Here's a detail shot:

leaf detail

I am afraid that's all I have to show you today. I am working on some more cuteness though, and I promise you'll be seeing it soon! So stay tuned. :) Until then...

Sparkly-ness

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

We've had some very Fall-like weather here the last couple days...ahhhh, bliss...and it's the perfect backdrop for the stitching I've been doing:

hoop-dee-doo

I've been stitching more cuteness from Annie Oakleaves' adorable patterns. These ones are from her Cuties collection. Fitting name, yes? :)

Check out those shoes! They sparkle!! Of course, the pic doesn't do the shoes justice; you really need to see them up close and personal to appreciate the sparkly-ness (yes, I just made up a word!) of them. I am loving what DMC has to offer lately...The shoes are stitched with Jewel Effects, part of the Light Effects collection. Fun stuff! Not quite as easy to work with as cotton floss since it's a metallic floss, but not hard.

I am currently working on another Cutie, but unfortunately I don't have a WIP picture for you. Sorry! It's super cute though, I promise you'll like it. I am halfway done with it, so you can expect to see a picture of a completed project soon! Until then...

Cuteness Galore!

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps! Whew, have I ever been a busy little stitcher!! I have been doing some stitching for Annie Oakleaves--her Eenies are to die for!--and it's been keeping me super busy...in a good way! They're cute as can be and a blast to stitch. Here, look:

So hey, sorry this post is short on words, but I've got some stitching to do! I will be back later this week (hopefully) with more to say. Until then...

On The Catwalk

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps!

First of all, thanks for the mermaid love! It thrills me to hear what you guys think about the stuff I make. So much work goes into these things...time and effort and whatnot....it's relaxing and wonderful but still work, ya' know what I mean? So it's great to get feedback from you guys and to know that you think it's as wonderful as I do. :)

So, ok, last time I mentioned that I had a couple pics of some adorable little children modeling the shirts I made...so, here ya' go! Enjoy.

First up, my dear friend's daughter, Anna. Try not to fall out of your chair 'cause of the cuteness. Seriously. That's how flippin' cute she is!

Ok, so I gotta confess: I did not snap those pics of Anna. They are waaaaayyyy too nice to have come from my little camera! Tee hee. Anyway, check out my friend's Flickr photostream. She takes really great pics!

Next up is my own little baby boy, wearing the onesie I made him for his birthday....a month too late, but whatever!

(Hey, how do you like those legs? Hubby's got some nice stems.Tee hee!)

Well, that's about it for me, Stitchy Peeps. Hope you liked the pictures!

So, until next time...

Happy Stitching!

PS Don't forget...if you wanna stitch these patterns, check out Annie Oakleave's blog. You'll find these patterns and more!

Under The Sea

Hey there, Stitchy Peeps! The mermaid I told you about is complete! Woo hoo!

Let's take a look at her, shall we?
all done

This little sweetie is from Badbird, who totally rocks, don'tcha think?

Here are a few more pics:
long flowing locks

kissable lips

Ok, so you may have noticed that this sweet little mermaid's lips are a little large, especially if you've seen the original pattern that Andrea (Badbird) made. I had to do a little improvising because my Sulky pen, as wonderful and lovable as it is, is not good when it comes to getting a fine line drawn...so all those little details on things end up being not so little. So the mouth, along with the nose, came out a little thick. I swear, I redid that mouth so many times! This one here was my 6th --AND FINAL, darn it!--attempt. At first I thought it looked just a little too large, but I figured I would just have to learn to love it. ('Cause it sure as heck wasn't getting frogged and restitched again!) But you know what? Now that I've been looking at it for a while, I really do love it. I think her lips are so sweet! Not what I had in mind whatsoever when I started, but really quite lovely all the same. :) Plus, she's got super smoochable lips for all those cute mermen she'll run into while she's under the sea...

Hmmmm, do you think perhaps I've gotten a little carried away? No??? Good. Me neither. :)

Anywho....

Here are a couple of detail pics of the stitching. I am still working on my stem stitch.

stem stitch

My stem stitches really do need some work, but I think they look ok. Just as long as I keep on practicing, right? Once upon a time, my french knots were hideous. I mean, HID-E-OUS. Bad bad bad. But practice makes prefect. Well, near-perfect anyway. ;)

Ok, that's it for me! I hope I didn't bore you with all this blah-blah-blah. Tee hee.

Hey, don't let me forget, I've got a couple pics to show you of some cutie pies wearing the shirts I embroidered for them...but that's gonna have to wait until next time. Until then...

Thank You Stitchy Peeps!

Hello there, my beloved Stitchy Peeps!! Thank you sooooooo much for stitchy advice I asked for on my Orange Girl. You guys totally rock my socks! Most of you thought that red or brown would work best...and after I did a floss toss I decided that brown was indeed the winner.

Here, lookee!
all done...i think...

Though I like the color, I am not over the moon about the lettering. I really wanna frog it and try again, I don't know if I have to gumption to actually do it. I followed the pattern's lettering, but now I wish I'd changed it like I did for this project I did late last year. But eeeeeek, that can be time-consuming! Oh well. Maybe next time.

Sooooooo...while I was debating about what to do with Orange Girl's sign, I decided I needed to start something new. I spotted this on Badbird's blog and knew I had to do it. I'm not quite done with her yet, but here's a little sneak peek:

And a couple more sneak peeks:
more wip goodness

flower

I can't wait to finish her up! She's really pretty so far. I originally had a totally different color scheme in mind for her...I envisioned soft shades of purple, pink and green. But aqua won out since she's going in my newly painted bathroom. Yup. But she's been such a fun stitch that I haven't ruled out doing her again in the aforementioned colors. :-D

So, I guess that's all for now, Stitchy Peeps. Thank you again for weighing in on my color dilemma; I really appreciate that you took the time to comment. Hugs and kisses to you all! *muah*

I will be back soon with more details and pics of the mermaid stitchy piece. Until then...

Happy Stitching!

I Need Your Input, Stitchy Peeps!

Hey there Stitchy Peeps! Look at this!
vogart orange wip

How cute is this?!?!?!?! It's the Vogart piece I mentioned last time. I saw this worked up quite some time ago..I don't remember where, but it was somewhere on the net...and I thought it was BEYOND adorable. So I was thrilled to find a pattern for it! Whoopee!!!

I sure do love the internet.

Let's enjoy some more tasty pics, shall we?
dang, that's cute

leafy

Ok, so here's something I think is cool. Check out the grass!
twisty grass

To make the grass, I twisted 3 strands each of two different shades of green and attached it to the fabric. This wouldn't work if this were a tea towel or something that got handled, but since I am going to frame this, the twisty grass will be safe behind glass. :) It could be easily snagged since it's only attached in two places, so I would never do this on a t-shirt or anything...but I think it looks way cool! And no, that's not how I did the lazy daisies, though they are done with a blended needle of the same colors I used for the twisty grass...that's why they don't look the same as the grass. But you could probably tell that by looking at the picture. :) I feel the need to explain everything...don't know why, I just do! Tee hee.

Now, here's the part that still needs to be completed:
sign wip

I did the outline of the sign with a blended needle...this time with four stands of light brown and two strands of a darker brown. My plan was to use the extra two strands of light brown and four dark brown to do the lettering...but it didn't stand out enough, so I scrapped that idea. I was simply going to use a darker brown but then I got to thinking...maybe I should do the lettering in a bright color, something that really catches the eye. Or maybe something not that bright, but simply colorful and complimentary to the orange & brown shades on the piece...like a nice blue. Or maybe red to bring out the orange's cute little lips...Hmmm, what do you think?

Lemme know what you guys, think, ok? I really would like some input on what you, my talented Stitchy Peeps, think would look good. :-D

Hope to hear from you soon! Until then...

Happy Stitching!
